|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of developmental play therapy on social interaction and stereotypic behavior of children with autism in Institution. Three participants were selected from 1 institution located in Gyeonggido based on the results of CARS. This study used a multiple probe baseline design across participants. The program implemented two times a week to each session for 30 minutes. The social interaction and stereotypic behavior were observed using partial interval recording method for 10 minutes. Maintenance data were collected three weeks after the intervention was completed. The result showed that the social interaction increased and the stereotypic behavior decreased through developmental play therapy, And the effects were maintained in all participants. These results showed that the developmental play therapy was effective in increasing social interaction and decreasing stereotypic behavior of children with autism in institution. Discussions and suggestions for future research and practices are provided.
